Apple adds AI fill tool and document assistants to Creator Studio apps
What happened
Apple updated its Creator Studio suite across Mac, iPad, and iPhone. Pixelmator Pro's Generate Fill now lets users select an area of an image and describe the change they want in natural language. Logic Pro adds an intelligent assistant in beta and an enhanced Stem Splitter that can isolate drum parts without original multitracks. Keynote, Pages, and Numbers now have assistants that understand document context, plus Model Context Protocol support lets external AI agents read, edit, and automate actions in those apps.
Why it matters
This matters to freelancers and small business owners who create content on Apple devices. You can now edit images by describing what you want in plain English instead of using complex tools, and your documents can be edited or automated by AI agents that understand what is in them.
Who's doing it
Apple is updating its Creator Studio suite, which includes Final Cut Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Logic Pro, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers. Final Cut Pro for Mac now includes built-in MotionVFX, previously a third-party content maker.
Try it
- Open Pixelmator Pro on your Mac and load any image. Expected outcome: The image appears on your canvas ready for editing.
- Select an area of the image using the selection tool, then look for the Generate Fill option and type a description of the change you want, such as 'replace background with a blue sky.' Expected outcome: The selected area is replaced based on your description.
- Open Pages or Keynote and start typing a document or presentation, then look for the assistant feature to ask it to summarize or edit your content. Expected outcome: The assistant reads your document context and helps you refine it.

The Boss hype translator
Model Context Protocol support is a game changer. External AI agents can now read, edit, and automate actions across your documents. Translation: something else can rewrite your pitch deck while you're at lunch and you'll have no idea what changed.
Karen
Hold on. External AI agents can read AND edit my documents? What happens when some automated jagoff rewrites my Numbers spreadsheet and I don't catch it? WHO is liable for that?
The Anchor what could go wrong
Breaking tonight: a Generate Fill tool that replaces parts of your image based on a text description. If it fills in something inaccurate and you publish it, your clients may never trust your work again.
The Yinzer BS detector
Logic Pro can isolate drum parts without the original multitracks now. That's like pulling the fries out of a Primanti's sandwich after they already slapped it together. Pretty slick, but I wonder if it sounds like garbage.
The Professor
The Stem Splitter isolates components from a mixed audio file, not from multitrack recordings. The technical term is source separation. Whether the results are usable depends entirely on the original mix quality.
