Well, Actually, Bryson DeChambeau's AI Crusher Proves Deep Learning Will Dominate Sports Performance

May 15, 2026 ยท From the archive, written in the Professor's voice before our October 2026 redesign from cloud.google.com

What happened

Bryson DeChambeau uses Google Cloud's deep learning algorithms with proprietary 2D and 3D models. These track over 30 key points on the body, club, and ball. The system analyzes shot outcomes including top of swing, impact, follow-through, and finish.

Why it matters

This demonstrates how AI's precise biomechanical tracking outperforms traditional coaching methods. You will rethink sports training as data-driven rather than anecdotal. Integrate such models into your workflow to quantify and optimize performance metrics systematically.

Who's doing it

Bryson DeChambeau, PGA Tour major winner, deploys AI Crusher to refine his swing. He gained a competitive edge, winning the 2024 U.S. Open by leveraging these AI insights for superior shot consistency.

Try it

  1. Visit https://cloud.google.com/transform/the-ai-crusher-bryson-dechambeau-on-his-experiments-with-ai-and-the-future-of-sports-performance and study the deep learning setup. Expected outcome: Understand the 30+ key point tracking.
  2. Use a tool like Google Cloud AI Platform to upload golf swing videos. Expected outcome: Generate 2D/3D models of body, club, and ball paths.
  3. Analyze outputs for swing phases like impact and follow-through. Expected outcome: Receive quantifiable improvements in shot outcomes.
