TruGolf Puts an AI Coach in a Driving Range. Indoors. Because Weather Shouldn't Dictate Pedagogy.
TruGolf Holdings has installed its first TruGolf Range platform at Lucid Golf in New Albany, Indiana. Each hitting bay offers Slow Motion Replay of club and ball interaction, ball flight data, and integrated AI analysis of swing tendencies. The system is designed to replicate an outdoor green grass driving range experience indoors.
This is a textbook example of sensor-rich environments replacing human coaching at scale. The underlying principle is computational feedback loops: a camera captures your swing, software extracts parameters, and the system diagnoses tendencies faster than a human eye ever could. The AI Coach doesn't get tired, doesn't charge by the hour, and doesn't play favorites. That last part is the real disruption.
TruGolf Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: TRUG), a Salt Lake City-based company, deployed the system at Lucid Golf in New Albany, Indiana. This is their first installation of the TruGolf Range platform.
- Open the free Golf Coach app or any swing analysis app on your phone and prop it on a stand behind you at the driving range. Record ten swings with the same club.
- Use the app's slow motion replay feature to examine where your club face meets the ball. Look for consistency in your hand position and follow through.
- Compare your ball flight direction across all ten swings. If seven or more curve the same direction, you have identified a swing tendency. That is what the AI Coach does automatically, except it uses dedicated cameras and does it instantly.
