Revolutionizing Golf Swing Analysis with On-Device AI: Greenside AI's iPhone Solution
What happened
Greenside AI utilizes the iPhone’s GPU and Neural Engine to perform advanced biomechanical analysis of golf swings without relying on internet connectivity. Their system employs predictive modeling to assess swing mechanics precisely, enabling real-time coaching anywhere. This approach sidesteps the latency and privacy issues of cloud-dependent AI.
Why it matters
This story exemplifies the power of edge AI—running complex models directly on mobile hardware to deliver immediate, offline feedback. It challenges the assumption that high-performance AI coaching requires cloud infrastructure, thus expanding accessibility and user autonomy. Practitioners should consider deploying on-device inference for latency-sensitive applications.
Who's doing it
Greenside AI is actively deploying this technology, providing golfers worldwide with instant swing analysis, improving training efficiency and user engagement through portable, offline AI.
Try it
- Download the Greenside AI app from https://www.greenside.ai/.
- Use your iPhone to record your golf swing within the app.
- Allow the app to process your swing biomechanical data using the iPhone’s Neural Engine to receive immediate, predictive coaching feedback without internet dependency.
