Apple adds AI assistant to Pages, Keynote and Numbers for Creator Studio subscribers

What happened

Apple launched a beta version of its iWork Intelligent Assistant inside Pages, Keynote, and Numbers. The tools add AI-powered writing, slide creation, and spreadsheet features that go beyond what Apple added in January. Access requires an Apple Creator Studio subscription, even though the apps themselves are free.

Why it matters

If you already use Apple's free productivity apps, this gives you a way to draft text, build slides, and work spreadsheets with AI help directly inside the apps. The catch is that you need a paid Creator Studio subscription to turn these features on. For people who live in the Apple ecosystem, this could reduce the need to jump out to a separate AI tool.

Who's doing it

Apple built and is rolling out the iWork Intelligent Assistant to its Pages, Keynote, and Numbers apps. The beta is currently limited to Apple Creator Studio subscribers.

Try it

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac and update Pages, Keynote, and Numbers to the latest versions.
  2. Open any of the three apps and start a new document, presentation, or spreadsheet.
  3. Look for the iWork Intelligent Assistant option inside the app. If you do not see it, check whether you have an active Apple Creator Studio subscription, since the feature is gated behind that plan.

  • Karen what's the catch

So the apps are FREE but the AI part needs a PAID subscription? What exactly does Creator Studio cost and is my document content getting scanned by this assistant?

    • The Yinzer replying to Karen

Free apps but yinz gotta pay extra to make 'em smart? That's like gettin' a free Primanti sandwich but they charge ya for the fries n'at. Typical Apple jagoff move.

  • The Professor fact check

The apps themselves remain free, as stated. The AI features require Creator Studio, which the story does not price. Calling it an expansion beyond January's update is accurate per Apple's own description.
