Bryson DeChambeau Uses Google Cloud Vision Models to Analyze Every Swing
DeChambeau's system runs deep learning models on Google Cloud that track over 30 body, club, and ball keypoints in 2D and 3D. The models label swing phases including top of backswing, impact, follow-through, and finish, then output outcome metrics for each shot.
Athletes learn to replace subjective video review with quantitative kinematic data. This shifts training decisions from feel-based adjustments to measurable joint angles and club positions.
Bryson DeChambeau partnered with Google Cloud to run the models during practice sessions and tournaments, producing frame-by-frame reports that inform club fitting and swing changes.
Step 1: Upload swing footage to Google Cloud Video AI at cloud.google.com/video-intelligence. Step 2: Enable pose detection and object tracking to extract the 30+ keypoints per frame. Step 3: Export the labeled JSON and import it into a spreadsheet to compare joint angles across sessions.
