Biomechanical tracking turns golf swings into measurable data sets
Bryson DeChambeau uses Google Cloud deep learning models that track over 30 body, club, and ball keypoints in 2D and 3D. The system records phases including top of swing, impact, follow-through, and finish, then outputs outcome metrics for each shot.
Students learn that performance analysis moves from subjective feel to quantified joint angles and club paths. This changes practice from repetition to targeted correction based on frame-by-frame data.
Bryson DeChambeau partnered with Google Cloud to build the AI Crusher system. The setup now supplies real-time swing diagnostics used in his training sessions.
Step 1: Open Google Cloud Vertex AI documentation at https://cloud.google.com/vertex-ai. Step 2: Upload a 60 fps golf swing video and run the Pose Detection model to extract 30+ keypoints. Step 3: Review the generated angle and timing reports to adjust one specific swing variable, such as hip rotation at impact.
